Microbiology laboratory is mainly focuses on the study of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. Microbiology lab provide specialized facility for the students to engage hands-on training experiences related to the field of microbiology.
Work space
The lab is equipped with basic laboratory equipment’s like microscopes, Petri dishes, test tubes, pipettes, Bunsen burner, incubator, centrifuges, hot air oven, autoclave, laminar air flow hood.
Microscopes
Microscopes are the essential tool in the microbiology lab, it helps the students to observe and study microorganisms at the cellular level. Our lab provides different types of microscopes including electric microscope, compound light microscopes.
Culture methods
Microorganisms are always cultured by using different culture media. They are the essential tool for the microbiology laboratory. The lab have good facilities for preparing culture media, incubating bacterial and fungal cultures at specific temperature and store the microbial culture for future reference.
Sterilization equipment’s
Sterilization is necessary in microbiology laboratory to prevent contamination of the culture media and to get accurate results. Autoclave, hot air oven are the basic equipment’s used to sterilize culture media and glassware’s respectively.
Safety
Safety protocols are strictly followed in the laboratory to reduce the risk of exposure to harmful microorganisms. Students are trained the various laboratory techniques including aseptic techniques and how to handle biohazardous materials.
Experiments
The curriculum includes different types of experiments like staining, microbial biochemical tests, antibiotic sensitivity testing, molecular diagnostic tests, air sampling, and food and water analysis.
Over all the college microbiology lab provides immense facilities for the students to develop practical skills, critical thinking abilities and deeper understanding of microbiology through different training facilities.
